Pressure to increase space education is very high in today’s world. One way of doing educating students about space is through a planetarium. Sadly, the planetarium at Hollidaysburg Area Senior High, a powerful educational tool, is non-functional. Originally installed in 1969, the globe projector has given its last breath.
Along with the tattered projector, the planetarium dome and seating are on their last legs and are desperately in need of repair. Carl Sagan summarized best when he said, “We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology.” It is time to end the scientific deficit and Hollidaysburg is ready to take on the challenge.
